Senator Willis E. Blackshear Jr. is currently serving in his first term as State Senator for Senate District 6, which includes Centerville, Dayton, Jefferson Township, Kettering, Miami Township, Moraine, Oakwood, Riverside, Trotwood, Washington Township, West Carrollton, Carlisle (part), and Springboro (part). He previously served two terms as State Representative for Districts 39 and then 38 prior to becoming a State Senator.

Through his work in the General Assembly, Senator Blackshear wants to be the bridge between the Statehouse and the community. Senator Blackshear aims to prioritize families and find solutions to make living in Ohio more affordable while advocating for the mental health needs of Ohioans. Senator Blackshear works to make Ohio a place where everyone would want to go to school, work, raise a family, and retire. Senator Blackshear is someone who wants to see everyone reach their full potential, and he continues to advocate for legislation that works for all, not just some.

Outside of his official duties, Senator Blackshear attends church service regularly and participates with his faith community. He can be seen at local sporting events or school events cheering on the talented students of District 6. A lifelong Ohioan, Senator Blackshear is a graduate of Wright State University and The Ohio State University, where he received his MBA.
